It alludes to a suffering examples of or air to encounter sexual, warmth, or sentimental attractions fundamentally to individuals of a similar sex. It is a people feeling of individual and social personality dependent on those attractions, practices communicating them, and enrollment in a network of the individuals who share them. Homosexuality these days, prompts Same-Sex Marriage, as per Oxford English Dictionary; it is a lawfully or socially perceived marriage between two people of the equivalent natural sex or social sexual orientation. It is in which other nation like Netherlands is supportive of Same-Sex Marriage; while other nation, especially the Philippines doesn't concur or even actualize the Same-Sex Marriage. Since that the Philippines is the main Catholic nation and Christian dominan nation in Asia and it is third on the planet, we Filipinos live in a family-oriendted family. Thus, we are raised up with various qualities which incorporate the Moral Values we get from the lessons of the Bible; the hallowed book of Christianity. On the off chance that a man likewise lie with humankind, as he lieth with a lady, them two have submitted a detestation: they will doubtlessly be killed; their blood will arrive. (Leviticus 20:13) There will be no prostitute of the girls of Israel, nor a homosexual of the children of Israel. Thou shalt not bring the recruit of a prostitute, or the cost of a canine, into the place of the LORD thy God for any pledge: for even both these are horrifying presences unto the LORD thy God. (Deuteronomy 23:17-18) As years cruise by, there are a great deal of episodes which relates to the Same-Sex Marriage. What's more, as a developing network, authority stands up and remarked on the issue. Pope Benedict XVI gave his remark with respect to the issue. He simply contradicted to gay/lesbian marriage worried about nature, proposing the law deciding the contrasts between the genders were dangers to creation. Remarks were made by the Pope tending to it to the Diplomats with the primary subject of The Environment and the assurance of Creation, though; To convey our appearance further, we should recall that the issue of the earth is perplexing; one may contrast it with a multifaceted crystal. Animal varies from each other and can be secured, imperiled, in various ways, as we probably am aware from every day experience. One such assaults originates from laws or recommendations which, for the sake of battling separation, strike at the natural premise of the contrasts between the genders, However, opportunity can't be outright, since man isn't GOD, GODS CREATION. For man, the way to be taken can't be dictated by fancy or determination, yet should preferably relate to the structure willed by the maker. (qtd in. Gay Marriage danger to Creation) In lieu with this, Pope Benedict XVI, differ in Same-Sex Marriage. Our body is consecrated and its holiness prompts the regard of all of us. It is without a doubt that all of us has our own side on the issue Same-Sex Marriage. Every strict gathering that is existing right currently has their own stand with respect to the issue. Territorial bodies and ministry, be that as it may, have tested this decision, causing a significant fracture among Presbyterians. Despite the fact that the Episcopal Church has not expressly settled a situation for gay marriage, in 2006 the congregation expressed its help of gay and lesbian people and [opposition to] any state or government protected revision restricting gay relationships or common associations. Moreover, in 2009, the churchs national show casted a ballot to give religious administrators the choice to favor same-sex associations. While the Reform and Reconstructionist Jewish developments are impassioned supporters of gay and lesbian rights, including the privilege of same-sex couples to marry, they don't expect rabbis to direct at the weddings of gay couples. The Conservative development, which doesn't purify gay marriage, awards self-governance to singular rabbis to pick whether to perceive same-sex associations. The initiative of Orthodox Judaism has characterized marriage as an establishment between a man and a lady and in this manner doesn't acknowledge same-sex marriage. The quintessence of having a cheerful and sound life is having a family. Family, as it were that adoration and caring is inside its relatives. Sexual associations between same genders are not fit for having a family. Without a doubt, it is a real line that every one of us concur. Same-Sex Marriage truly isn't socially acknowledged here in the Philippines. These may prompt the separation of the gay people, bisexuals, transgender and other people who have a place with the third sex. As indicated by House Bill 1245, wrote by Rep. (qtd. in Bill 1276) As a Senate partner of House Bill 1245, Sen. Rodolfo Biazon documented Senate Bill No. 1575. (House 1245) These Bills are for the most part pending cases in the House Committee on Youth, Women and Family Relations. In which these Bills were simply talked about, assessed and contended by the good Representatives and Senators of the Republic of the Philippines. Issues are made because of Same-Sex Marriage which prompts the cultural issues and mistaken assumptions. We regard each person in this world. Because of issues which harm the picture of third genders, numerous associations and administering bodies were conceived, so as to ensure the Civil Rights of every Third Sex. Every association has its objective to end the separation and the criminalization towards the Third genders. Laws ensuring the Homosexuals were made and executed. Be that as it may, there are just states who are simply actualizing these laws. Hostile to Trust - Essay Example US of America and State of Michigan V. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan On October 18, 2010, the Attorney General of US and territory of Michigan brought common enemy of trust charges against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (Blue Cross). Sati & Sutee Tradition in India - History of Sati Tradition Research Paper

Sati and Sutee Tradition in India - History of Sati Tradition - Research Paper Example Hinduism contains an assortment of sacred texts composed for more than 4,000 years. Among these composition, inconsistencies on widow consuming drove numerous to lift up the demonstration while others denounced it for the sake of religion. During Vishnusmriti, widows were given two alternatives: chastity or immolation. The Ninayasindu later pronounced sati as a widow’s basic obligation; so did the Puritans of the sixth century. These writings went further to expand on how the demonstration was to be performed. In the years that followed, strict pioneers and adherents worshipped ladies who yielded themselves and became destinations. Despite the strict understanding of the demonstration, the training turned out to be profoundly installed in Indian culture. This introduced new difficulties to individuals attempting to kill it. Likewise, the social worth concurred to widows who yielded themselves introduced more obstructions. Widows were seen as useless, with low economic wellbeing making a life for them agonizing. Widows who would not like to proceed with the training were pressured, genuinely constrained or undermined onto the fire. By and large, the male family members assumed a critical job in a widow’s choice to seek after sati. The death of sati is credited to British decision during the nineteenth century. GMAT Tip of the Week The Song Remains the Same

Welcome back to hip hop month in the GMAT Tip of the Week space, where were constantly asking ourselves, Wait, where have I heard  that before? If you listen to enough hip hop, youll recognize that just about every beat or lyric you hear either samples from or derives from another track that came before it (unless, of course, the artist is Ol Dirty Bastard, for whom, as his nickname derives, there aint no father to his style). Biggies Hypnotize samples directly from La Di Da Di (originally by Doug E. Fresh yep, hes the one who inspired The Dougie that Cali Swag District wants to teach you and Slick Rick). Biggie Biggie Biggie, cant you see, sometimes your words just hypnotize me was originally Ricky, Ricky, Ricky And right around the same time, Snoop Dogg and 2Pac just redid the entire song just about verbatim, save for a few brand names. The East Coast  edit of Chris Browns Loyal? French Montana starts his verse straight quoting Jay-Zs I Just Wanna Love U (Im a pimp by blood, not relation, I dont chase em, I replace em), which (probably) borrowed the line I dont chase em I replace em from a Biggie track, which probably got it from something else. And these are just songs we heard on the radio this morning driving to work The point? Hip hop is a constant variation on the same themes, one of the greatest recycling centers the world has ever known. And so is the GMAT. Good test-takers like veteran hip hop heads train themselves to see the familiar within what looks (or sounds) unique. A hip hop fan often says, Wait, where I have heard that before? and similarly, a good test-taker sees a unique, challenging problem and says, Wait, where have I seen that before? And just like you might recite a lyric back and forth in your mind trying to determine where youve heard it before, on test day you should recite the operative parts of the problem or the rule to jog your memory and to remind yourself that youve seen this concept before. Is it a remainder problem? Flip through the concepts that youve seen during your GMAT prep about  working with  remainders (the remainder divided by the divisor gives you the decimals; when the numerator is smaller then the denominator the whole numerator is the remainder). Is it a geometry problem? Think of the rules and relationships that showed up on tricky geometry problems you have studied (I can always draw a diagonal of a rectangle and create a right triangle; I can calculate arc length from an inscribed angle on a circle by doubling the measure of that angle and treating it like a central angle). Is it a problem that asks for a seemingly-incalculable number? Run through the strategies youve used  to perform estimates or determine strange number properties on similar practice problems in the past. The GMAT is a lot like hip hop just when you think theyve created something incredibly unique and innovative, you dig back into your memory bank (or click to a jazz or funk station) and realize that theyve basically re-released the same thing a few times a decade, just under a slightly different name or with a slightly different rhythm. The lesson? You wont see anything truly unique on the GMAT. So when you find yourself stumped, act like the old guy at work when you tell him to listen to a new hip hop song: Oh Ive heard this beforeand actually when I heard it before in the 90s, my neighbor told me that she had heard it before in the 80s As you study, train yourself to see the similarities in seemingly-unique problems and see though the GMATs rampant plagiarism of itself. The repetitive nature of the GMAT and of hip hop  will likely mean that youre no longer so impressed by Tyga, but you can use that recognition to be much more impressive to Fuqua. Getting ready to take the GMAT? We have free online GMAT seminars running all the time. And as always, be sure to follow us on  Facebook, YouTube,  Google+  and Twitter! By Brian Galvin.

Insects That Defend Themselves by Playing Dead

Insects use many defensive strategies to protect themselves from predators, from chemical sprays to bites or stings. Some insects take a more passive approach to self-defense, though, by simply playing dead. Thanatosis Predators quickly lose interest in dead prey, so insects that employ the strategy of playing dead (called thanatosis) can often escape unharmed. The act of feigning death often looks like a demonstration of stop, drop, and roll, as threatened insects let go of whatever substrate they happen to be clinging to and drop to the ground. They then stay still, waiting for the predator to give up and leave. Insects that evade predation by playing dead include certain caterpillars, ladybugs and many other beetles, weevils, robber flies, and even giant water bugs. Beetles of the genus Cryptoglossa are known by the common name death-feigning beetles. When trying to collect insects that play dead, its often easiest to place a collecting jar or beating sheet beneath the branch or substrate where youve found the insects.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest Essay - 860 Words

One flew East, One flew West, One died without a part of his brain. In my opinion the main theme of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is conformity. The patients at this mental institution, or at least the one in the Big Nurse’s ward, find themselves on a rough situation where not following standards costs them many privileges being taken away. The standards that the Combine sets are what makes the patients so afraid of a change and simply conform hopelessly to what they have since anything out of the ordinary would get them in trouble. Such conformity is what Mc Murphy can not stand and makes him bring life back to the ward by fighting Miss Ratched and creating a new environment for the patients. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest†¦show more content†¦Kesey makes sure the reader gets a mental picture of the situations but he also makes use of many literary terms. The most common literary term used, that is present at least twice in every page of One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, is simile, where a comparison is made be tween two seemingly unfamiliar things. An example of a simile is present when Bromden describes one of the prostitutes: â€Å"Her fingernails are red as drops of blood against the shiny black patent-leather purse† (172). The author makes use of onomatopoeia when the Chief narrates: â€Å"He pulls the cigarette from his thin crack of a smile, and the laugh starts up again—eee-eee-eee† (62). Kesey also makes use of a metaphor when Harding says: â€Å"Mr. McMurphy†¦ my friend.. I’m not a chicken, I’m a rabbit. The doctor is a rabbit. Cheswick there is a rabbit. Billy Bibbit is a rabbit. All of us in here are rabbits of varying ages and degrees, hippity-hopping through our Walt Disney world.† (62), implying that all of the patients are, indeed, rabbits. â€Å"Our sweet, smiling, tender angel of mercy†(58) is an ironic kenning referring to Miss Ratched. A playbook for Strategy, Summary Example For Students

A playbook for Strategy, Summary A playbook for strategy 11/14/2013 The article discusses the five essential questions at the heart of any winning strategy. The author believes that answering these five questions can define and create a successful strategy of an organization, no matter what type, size or context it is. The first question asks after the winning aspiration. Most companies have a general or abstract mission, state or vision that makes no reference to competitions, customers or to winning. The author believes, that if you don’t set out to win, you rarely will. That’s why a aspiration always has to be defined very clear and detailed. The second questions is â€Å"Where will you play? †. It determines where an organization will compete, regarding to markets, customers, channels, product categories and the vertical stages of its industry. This choice is the careful consideration of a set of possibilities together. The third question, that needs to be answered is â€Å"How will you win? †. Together with the â€Å"Where? † aspect this question forms the very heart of strategy. It defines the method by which an organization will win and depends very much on the â€Å"playing field† of an organization. To answer this question a company has to figure out its competitive advantage and then build on it. To be successful the â€Å"how-to-win† strategy needs to be very difficult to copy and very unique. The fourth questions asks after the capabilities that must be in place. Core capabilities are a subset of capabilities that truly matter and make the difference between winning and losing. To determine this capabilities an organization has to find out at what it needs to be distinctively good in to play and win how it wants it. The author gives an example by the PG Company, that has the following capabilities: deep customer understanding, innovation, brand building, go-to-market ability and global scale. The last question is â€Å"What management systems are required? † The management systems are the systems that build, support and measure a strategy. Without these the strategy will only be a wish list. An organizations needs a robust process for creating, reviewing and communicating about strategy. It needs structure and specific measures. All these questions can be understood as a reinforcing cascade. One question builds on the context of the another question. The intent is to provide a clear and powerful framework for thinking about winning choices. With these five questions strategy can be demystified. In my opinion the article gives a good summary about what leads an organization to success. But it is way too general too use it as a â€Å"playbook for developing a strategy†. The questions are formulated very universally, which is good, because they are applicable for every organization, but even in the explaining there is no information given about finding the answers. I think it would be very helpful to give a more detailed guide for the reader. What I also don’t like, is that the almost only example is the PG Case, which is on the one hand good, because it keeps the article simple but on the other hand would it be more interesting to read more about other cases to give this article more personality. I agree to the five questions model, because every company should have a very clear defined goal that explains where it wants to go and how.

Carrying On Business Of Supplying Taxi Travel †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Carrying On Business Of Supplying Taxi Travel. Answer: Case Facts: The Australian Taxation Office declared in 2015 that Uber Drivers need to be registered and pay Goods and Service Tax irrespective of their turnover. The general rule that was followed earlier regarding registration was that an enterprise with turnover less than 75 thousand dollars would not be required to pay Goods and Service Tax. However it is to be mentioned that an exception to the generally followed rule is that an enterprise carrying on business of supplying taxi travel is required to be registered for Goods and Service Tax irrespective of its turnover according to section 144-5(1) of the Goods and Service Act . It can be mentioned that according to section 195(1) of the GST Act Taxi Travel can be defined as travel involving passengers in taxi or limousine for fares. The Australian Taxation Office stated that Uber fell within the abovementioned exception as it is a company dealing in Taxi Travel and thus is required to pay GST irrespective of its turnover. However it is to be mentioned that Uber disagreed the fact that UberX drivers did not provide taxi service and filed a declaration to the Federal Court of Australia stating the same. Applicants submission: The applicant stated that Taxi travel only applied to the Taxi Industry as the legal provisions as stated in the Goods and Service Act did not apply on any other industry. The applicant suggested that the words Taxi and limousine bear a non legal meaning. The terms Taxi and Limousine as stated in section 195(1) of the GST Act provided a general meaning and have no legal implications of those meanings. The Applicants argued that Uber vehicles do not have markings on the body of the vehicles therefore cannot be categorized under taxi travel. The applicant also added that payment systems of Uber are different from normal taxis. The Uber drivers are not required to display the fares on meters as normal taxis. Respondents submission: The respondent stated that Taxi Travel should be construed as a whole and should be defined as transportation by a vehicle being driven a person for fares. The respondent also stated that the services provided by Uber fall under the category of taxi travel as all the essential features of transport by taxi travel are fulfilled by Uber. Further explanation of the definition of limousine was provided by the commissioner. He stated that unlike taxis Limousines do not have meters to display the fares and are required to be pre booked. Thus any car dealing providing transportation for fares should not be exempted from Taxi travel. Decision: Justice Griffiths held that the Respondent was rightful in submitting that Taxi is a vehicle which is available for hire by the Public for fares and taxis do not always require fare meters. However Justice Griffiths held that the Commissioner was not rightful in stating that limousines are not confined by the definitions of luxurious cars. Justice Griffiths held that limousines are luxury vehicles, which are hired by people for fares and cannot be compared to Taxis. However the Judgment held that Uber drivers needed to register for GST and register an Australian Business Number. It was held that Uber drivers were required to lodge Business Statements. Time Management free essay sample

Karin Detweller Through time people have learned different ways to manage their time. Rather be while working and going to school or while working and raising a family. Three keys to time management I have found effective for myself are to prioritize, decide, and set boundaries. Even though each individual have their own way of time management, most everyone uses these key things. In time management its very important to prioritize your goals, schedules, and tasks. Managing your time is key to successfully prioritize your time. One way to rioritize your time would be by writing everything down. Write down your tasks that you do daily, weekly, as well as long term projects or assignments. Organize these tasks by time. Break your tasks into three time categories: career aims, objectives, and targets. Then rank your objectives, targets and career aims. That will be a great step in starting to manage your time. We will write a custom essay sample on Time Management or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Something else you can do to be successful in your time management is making decisions. So now that you have prioritized your tasks you can set aside the time by making the decision on how much time you need for each task. If you have an over baring list then you may want to make the decision to trim it down so that It Is a realistic list of tasks. Dont let each task take up a lot of time. Make sure you start with the tasks that have a higher priority level. Then go on to the next task on your list. (Goodman, 201 3) Last but not least set boundaries. Look for ways to set healthy limits In your relationships. This means your work relationships, friends, and family. Always keep your promises to yourself. Also again set reallstlc goals for yourself, because we often ook past the promises that we make to ourselves. Put ourselves and our dreams and goals last. So defininatly set boundaries. (Goodman, 2013) During this research on time management I have learned that In order to successfully manage your time your going to have to apply boundaries to your lists of goals and daily tasks. Without priorltlzlng, deciding, and boundary setting you will more than likely fail at time management. Time management is very important in many aspects of our lives whether it’s doing schoolwork, getting ready for work, or getting the kids ready for their sporting events. As one can see time management has many different effects on our lives, both as adults and as an adolescent. Therefore, using time management in our daily lives helps us every day and one will see the effects that it has on us even if we don’t know how to manage our time efficiently and effortlessly. Time management can be used in many different ways throughout the day. When managing our time during the day, often people will try to keep you from finishing your duties in a timely manner. However, discussing time management one will see how it will help them in many of their daily activities and the effects that it has. We will write a custom essay sample on Time management or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Time Management affects us in many ways throughout our daily lives. Sometimes time management can affect us by people stopping us on the way to work, while we are on a phone call, or even that last minute thing that has to be done before we can leave. We have to manage our time daily, such as when we first wake up for the day, to start getting ready for work or even to get our day started. Managing our time effectively during the day is a soft skill that not many people have and are able to us effectively. It is often said that study has shown that self-management in the setting of adolescents with disabilities showed that there were many variations among these people(DiPipi-Hoy, Caroline; Jitendra, Asha K; Kern, Lee pgs.145-159). However, time management and self-management affects those with disabilities and it also affects those that don’t have any disabilities. Most of us have problems with time management, whereas with others it comes fairly easy because they have things written down on calendars, daily planners or even have reminders stored in their phones. In today’s society it is hard to manage our time wisely and efficiently because there are many daily activities that are going on throughout the day  that affects them from managing their time appropriately. However, those with certain disabilities find it harder to manage their time better than others. In 2004 there was a mandated Individuals with Disabilities Act, which required schools to include transition goals in what is called an Individualized Education Program by the age of 16(DiPipi-Hoy, Caroline; Jitendra, Asha K; Kern, Lee pgs145-159). Time management affects many different people in many different ways daily, because they are not able to break things down so that they can get the things done that they need to do and be able to do them in a timely manner. With today’s society it is harder to manage our time efficiently because throughout the day we have many things that go on. Time Management can help us in many different ways throughout our daily activities. Time manage is a soft skill that we obtain throughout our lifetime, it helps us as individuals mange what and how we do things during the day. Although, while using it one can see that he or she doesn’t have enough time in one day to get everything done at one time. However, to manage our time as individuals, we would need to break up our daily activities into many smaller time frames throughout the day so that we are able to complete them in a timely manner. What one will see is that time management is not only a soft skill it is also a hard skill that they learn over the duration of their lifetime. When one uses this skill, he or she will see that it often harder at times to make time during the day, to do everything they have to do, and that is why scheduling things around certain times of the day are needed and give it will give you a time frame to get it done. I chose this topic of time management to show the effects of time management and how it will help us in our daily lives. I often find myself running low on time during the day, so what I do is I use a schedule book and reminders to remind myself what I have got to get done and give myself a allotted time to get it done and then I will move onto the next thing. I believe that not only myself but everyone else can build a time management schedule that will help them maintain daily activities throughout their day so that they are able to complete them in a timely manner. When using time management one  need to have a set schedule of things that they have to do and give themselves enough time throughout the day. While reading the effects of time management, we have seen what one can do to manage their time efficiently and how to complete their daily activities. Time management is a soft skill that is acquired throughout our lifetime and continues to grow as we grow. However, managing our time with everything that we do during the day maybe hard for us to do, it can be done without any hesitation at all.

This does not mean that every writer who uses these words, does so, but sometimes, we just don't realize it.In fact, the three paragraph essay examples that I am going to show you below are not really used by everybody, but some people use them to great effect. It is going to be interesting to see what happens when you read this for the first time, because you might be shocked at what you find out.Notice how this writer begins his second paragraph by focusing on the fact that the definition is needed, and then he continues on to emphasize the importance of the sentence structure. Then, they continue on to focus on the importance of the content, instead of focusing on the sentence structure and the idea, because the story is a little more important. The result of doing this is that the reader will not be able to understand the point that the writer is trying to make, even though the writer makes the point of the essay on the use of sentence structure. For business strategic decision, in political and legal forces, the government can control the economy, encourage new business formation, force restructurings, close or punish companies. There is global trend toward deregulation and prevarication. But for different industries, Industries differ in the degree to which political and legal forces exert influence, like wind power energy, tobacco, etc. The global influence is intricate part as it assists in deciding if a company will face the world market or not. The increasing power of the European market and the purchasing power of the Euro will affect any market worldwide. All the above are how the environmental factors can and will affects a business strategic decision and the way business is conducted on a daily basis. Explain the differences between value-based pricing and cost-based pricing. Businesses have methods by which to price their products and/or SE;ices. Value-based pricing and cost-based pricing are two common types companies use to promote goods and services. Having the optimal prices is the way to effective marketing as well as to long-term profitability and success. Both of approaches have pros and cons relative to the other. When a company uses cost-based pricing the company sets a price at a percentage above the cost of production of the product or to provide the service. Value-based pricing sakes an approach differently by considering the potential value the product or service will bring to its customers. Value-Based Pricing A value-based pricing company considers the value of its product or service instead of the cost the company ensues to create and produce it. To do this, the company must determine how much money or value the product or service will create for the customer. This value could originate from factors such as increased efficiency, well being or stability. Companies or individuals that produce medications, chemicals, software and artwork often use this pricing strategy. Cost-Based Pricing Cost-based pricing uses manufacturing or production costs as its basis for pricing. The cost-based pricing company uses its costs of start to finish for finding a price bottom and a price roof. The bottom and the roof are the minimum and maximum prices the product or service; they serve as a price range. If the market conditions are such that the going competitive price is under the bottom price, the company may price at the bottom or attempt to lower its costs to lower the overall price. But ideally, the company should price somewhere in between the bottom and roof. Many companies that reduce in mass quantities use this pricing strategy, such as companies that produce clothing, food products and building materials. Focus Cost-based pricing focuses on the companys situation when determining price. In contrast, value-based pricing focuses on the customers when determining price. A value-based pricing company develops a means by which to calculate the potential value their product or service may bring customers and prices accordingly. Some companies use computer software to determine the value a product or service can offer. Prices When a company uses cost-based pricing, it prices between the price bottom ND the price roof. The market conditions dictate where, between the bottom and the roof, the company sets its pricing. If it uses value-based prices, the company sets its pricing in a range determined by what customers are willing to pay. Generally, the value-based price is higher. Benefits Cost-based pricing generally results in competitive prices. Companies that use this strategy may attract consumers who are looking for inexpensive products and services. The major benefit of a value-based pricing model is the ability to set prices that you know will attract buyers. This generally results from horrors market research. Value-based pricing companies often earn high profits on each item sold, but some consumers may not be willing to pay the high price and purchase from a competitor. Ways that the Elevation Burger Franchise could help and even entities franchisees during a recession: 1. Defer royalties. Thats defer, not forgive. Get a lien to secure the royalties that will be owed once the economy rebounds. 2. Focus on your core business. What attracts new customers and keeps existing customers? Do more of that! Many businesses are simply off track right now. Should you introduce new concepts? Yes, if they make sense now. But if they come at a cost, youve got to ask if the franchisees can afford them. Otherwise, stick with your core business. 3. Get creative with advertising credits. If franchisees are supposed to spend X per month on advertising, encourage them to do more guerrilla marketing. For example, if a franchisee pays an employee to wear a mascot outfit and stand out on the curb and wave in customers, give the franchisee advertising credit, and be liberal. Depending on the industry and circumstances, its almost always a mistake to reduce advertising -? too late for some franchisers. . Renegotiate supply contracts. It wont come as a surprise to your vendors that times are tough and franchisees need some help. Those who think long-term will be willing to rework their numbers now to keep your business when the economy improves. 5. Renegotiate leases. You may not be in a position to step in directly, but you can help franchisees renegotiate with landlords. Many landlords are working with tenants to provide relief; they are not forgiving rents, but they are adding money to the back end of leases. Chances are, your franchisees dont know how to begin that negotiation. Help them! Look at other leases, too. 6. Provide economic coaching. Insist on getting the franchises financial and walk through the numbers with the franchisee. This exercise alone is likely to produce several areas of potential improvement. Show franchisees where to cut and conserve, where to outsource, and how to do more with less for the time being. 7. Work with the banks. Now more than ever your franchisees need you to help them make a good case in front of their bankers. Step up and create presentations that will help wow bankers and other investors. Lenders need to know the franchiser s committed to the business and to the franchisees. 8. Stay calm. If you get emotional, the franchisee will get emotional, too. Even if the franchisee is already emotional, youve got to remain calm and set the example for the franchisee. One of your jobs is to lead. Your job is not to react. In business you will not be able to accommodate everyone but if you can appeal to the masses you will be successful. You must keep in mind that money is a huge stress for everyone no matter the situation so if you can alleviate some of the stress it will benefit all involved. Being a leader in stressful situations is he key to any success being shared with the entire franchise. Not all franchisees will react the same but when they are all still in business many months later they will be happy. The big thing as a franchiser to remember is that you are the boss and you are not in a democracy and if you see for the better on the franchise then make is so. DO not give in to pressure and stand your ground.

Below, several sources touching on privacy, retaliation, and arising from negligent and defamation cases of employers’ liabilities for references under various Acts are discussed. Liability for Defamation Employees can sue their former employers for release of disparaging statements, either orally or written that have can indirectly or directly lead to harm on their reputation, despite the high efforts to revise the Defamation Act, whose original version claimed defamation to consist of unprivileged publication of falsified information and derogatory issues, either actionable disregarding the special harm or its legal cause (Bally, 1989). That is, when the communication occurs, and it has a defamatory meaning, the third party who can be the prospective employer or the public is swayed away by the damaging reputation. According to Mac Kelly, a defamatory statement is that which tends to harm the reputation of another individual, and that lowers him in the society’s view, and prevents third persons from dealing or associating with the individual in subject (2001). However, with the increased technology that furthers globalization, information can travel very fast to different destinations, which increases the chances of spreading defamatory statements in a click of a button, let alone the oral statements. The English Law classifies defamatory statements into two; libel and slander, implying those recorded and that demonstrate a degree of permanence, and those orally made without justification respectively (out-law.com, 2008). The claim of the employee is left to the court to determine and interpret the statement in the context which it was made. It needs to evaluate the surrounding circumstances, audience, employer’s argument, and subject of the communication

Health Care Provider and health Diversity Essay

Health Care Provider and health Diversity - Essay Example On the contrary, Buddhism has a different world view since the faith has a straightforward looking at the human condition where nothing is ever based on wishful thinking (Murti, 2013). The origin of the Buddhism religion was based on the observation of how things are in the world and everything that the faith teaches is based on these observations, including the concept of healing. Therefore, it is imperative to discuss how the two faiths, Christianity, and Buddhism, perceive the concept of healing and how their worldviews may affect the process of providing healthcare. One of the vital questions to address when tackling issues to do with religion is the concept of spirituality. Christianity has a strong attachment to spirituality and, in this case, it refers to the extent to which human beings are connected to God as the supernatural being (Shelly & Miller, 2006). Thus, Christians hold their world view from the story of creation and fall where God, in spiritual presence, created everything and everything that happens is according to his will. Therefore, for a Christian seeking medical attention, he or she believes that the medics and healthcare providers are serving the purpose of God by preserving the life that God gives for free. In this case, the Christians believe that God uses the healthcare givers to protect the lives of human beings. On the other hand, the Christians believe that spirituality is living up to God’s expectations by following the footsteps of Jesus Christ (Woodhead, 2012). When handling a patient from Christian faith, therefore, the healthcare provider must understand that the religion has strong attachment to spirituality and doing things according to God’s will and that anything contrary to the Christian morals may invite God’s wrath as evident from the story of ‘the fall’ during the beginning of creation (Shelly & Miller, 2006). Thus, for

For a company to withstand the various challenges that emanate from the new competitive landscape, the management can put in place a variety of measures to be at par in terms of responding to these challenges. As a manager, I would recommend to the board of directors to adopt the following measures. Firstly and as recommended by Bettis and Michael, the staff should be able to develop a new mindset on how to approach business. This can be made possible when the company initiate extensive programs and also through invitation of resource persons. Extensive programs enable staff members to learn more about the emerging challenges and the likely remedies that can be adopted to counter the various challenges. On the other hand, Invitation of resource persons that are professionals in respective fields of technology such as software and e-marketing may also enlighten staff members about contemporary trends. New tools should also be developed to enable the company counter the challenges brought about by technology. This can be done through introduction and embracing technological systems such as within a company’s communication department and logistical departments. New concepts should also be embraced to replace the old ones. For example, slower methods of communication can be replaced with more effective and efficient ones. New technological aspects such as tele- conferencing should be adopted by a company if possible. This is because such a concept is not only convenient but also saves time too. As suggested by Grubler, Bettis and Michael, I would recommend to the Board of Directors to embrace research as an essential component of the companies objectives. For example, how technology can be used to meet customers satisfaction and inc rease efficiency in terms of timely and effective service delivery. Research would also enable the company to establish what is still relevant and what has been by passed by season in terms of technology brought about by the new competitive landscape. For instance, a telecommunication company should inject more funds on mobile phone research other than land line because it is contemporary and convenient to

The Efffects Of Louis 16th On :: essays research papers fc

The French Revolution was a significant milestone in European history, remembered by many in historical and literary works. The situation in France, mostly under the leadership of Louis XVI, had a negative influence in France, thus creating a perfect climate for the French Revolution. France was plagued by both debt, and poor decision making. prior to 1789. France was poverty-stricken and burdened with some of the highest debts. On the financial side, Louis XVI was aided by: Finance Minister Anne Robert Jauques Turgot, and Interior Minister Chretien Guillaume de Lamoignon de Malesherbes (*The economic origins of the French revolution, pg. 4). Louis introduced some of the most oppressive taxes and instituted financial reforms. Greater reforms were prevented by the opposition of the upper classes and court. This opposition was so strong that Turgot was forced to resign and was replaced by Jauques Necker. Lengthy wars, the support to the American Revolution and the gross amount of taxes paid and the lavish spending of the court contributed to the huge national debt. The government’s financial problems were made worse after 1740 by the renewal of costly wars (the French revolution, pg. 9). The war of the Austrian Succession (1740-1748) and the Seven Year’s War (1756-1763) were European wars over the domination of central Europe and colonial and commercial wars between France and Great Britain (*Aspects of the French Revolution pg. ). At their end, in 1763 France had lost almost all of it’s colonial empire in America and India. In 1778 the French launched an attack against Britain in the American Revolution. They were hoping to weaken old rivalries and regain lost colonies. The hopes of the French were not realized and their participation in the war increased an already heavy national debt. After Louis XVI granted financial aid (1778-81) to the American colonies revolting against Great Britain, Necker proposed drastic taxes on the nobility. Neck er was forced to resign in 1781 (Louis XVI and M. Antoinette ..pg 37) because of the discontentment of the people. Charles Alexandre deCalonne replaced him in 1783 and borrowed money for the court until the borrowing limit was reached (* Canadian Encyclopedia ref: france, revolution ). The anger of the French people against taxes, debt and lavish spending on the Court resulted in the recall of Necker in 1788, who still could not prevent bankruptcy of the government. During the next couple of years the financial crisis steadily worsened, because the government was bankrupt.

Evolution of Hrm

History and Evolution of HRM Personnel Management Personnel departments were once called Health and Happiness departments. The people assigned to deal with personnel issues were often individuals, who were not able to do other jobs efficiently. Personnel Management’s as a corporate field developed in the early 1900s. It was seen as activity, necessary, but unimportant, part of the organization. Over the years personnel management came to focus on efficient procedures and rules for administering large numbers of employees in various firms. Its aim was to manage difficulties, introduce fair systems and reduce costs. It also tended to focus on groups rather than individuals and, incidentally, reinforced labour-management divisions. The History of Human Resource Management The field of HRM as it currently exists has got through lot of transition. Following are the phases in the transition of HRM:- (a) The Individual Revolution: During this phase machines were introduced into variou s organizations and technology made rapid progress.Due to fragmentation and specialization of work, many workers lost their jobs and many workers felt their work to be dull, boring and monotonous. Workers were treated like tools, and moreover employees were keen to increase the production targets rather than satisfy workers’ demands. (b) Scientific Management: With the introduction of Scientific Management given by F. W. Taylor, efficiency in organizations was increased . Work was rearranged according to systematic analysis into smallest mechanical elements which was mot effective combination.Taylor emphasized on the fact that the individuals selected to perform the task should be perfectly matched, physically as well as mentally. Proper training should be given to the employees so that they can do their job more efficiently. (c) Trade Unionism: As the employees become more exploitive, the workers working in the organizations joined hands to fight against injustice done to th em in the shape of Trade Unions tried to improve the problems faced by the workers through collective bargaining. They helped in resolving the grievances of the workers relating to working conditions, pay and benefits, disciplinary actions, etc. (d) Human Relations Movement: The famous Hawthorne experiments conducted by Elton Mayo during 1930s and 1940s demonstrated that employee productivity was affected not only by the way job was designed, and the monetary aspects, but by certain social and psychological factors as well. The human relations movement led to various behavioral science techniques in industry for the very first time. This movement included support for training programs, support and concern for workers, counseling programs for workers, etc. (e) Human Resource Approach: However, but during early 60s the â€Å"pet milk theory†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦.. that happy workers are more productive workers as happy cow gives more milk †¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ ¦. Of human relations was la rgely rejected. In human resource approach it was recognized that workers are unique in their own way – having individual needs. It was recognized that each employee is a unique and highly complex individual with different wants, needs and values.Slowly but steadily, the trend moved towards treating employees as resources or assets. Evolution of the Concept of HRM The various stages or phases in the transition or evolution of Personnel Management into Human Resource Management are shown below: (a)The Commodity Concept:Labor was regarded as a commodity to a tool to be bought or sold (b) The Factor of Production Concept: labor is like any other factor of production, viz. money, materials, land etc. (c) The Goodwill Concept: Welfare measures like safety, first aid, lunch room, rest room will have a positive impact on workers’ productivity. d) The Paternalistic Concept: Management must assume a fatherly or protective attitude towards employee. It means satisfying the vario us needs of employees as parents meet the requirements of their child. (e) The Humanitarian Concept: To improve productivity, physical, social and psychological needs of workers must be fulfilled and met. (f) The Human Resource Concept: Employees are the most valuable assets in the organization. (g) The Emerging Concept: Employees should be accepted as partners of the organization. They should belong to the organization as they are running their own organization. Scope of HRM The main aim of HRM is Competitive advantage through people. It involves the following points:- (a) Change in Thinking Process: Achieving competitive success through people involves fundamentally changing the thinking of the concerns, that how they think about the workforce consisting of people an the management-employment relationship. (b) Co-operation with Employees: It means achieving success by working with people, not by replacing them or limiting the scope of their activities. c) Strategic Viewpoint: It in volves seeing the workforce as a source of strategic advantage, not just a cost to be minimized. Distinction – Personnel Management/HRM/HRD The sole purpose of personnel management was to attain advantage and best results for the organization. The individual’s interests, desires and aspirations were submerged into the organization objectives and goals. Where as, HRM projects the development of individual in accordance with his interests, desires & aspirations. So that the individuals would be motivated to make their best contribution towards the accomplishment of goals. While personnel function was designed to respond to the organization objectives like profit of maximization, HRM visualized human elements of enterprise as important resources. The term human resources at the macro level spell the total sum of all the components (like skill & creative ability) possessed by all the people, where as the term personnel even at the macro level is limited to only employees of all organization. One must not be under impression that HRM has replaced traditional personnel management rather we can say that HRM has absorbed the personnel function in its refined form.HRD is an integral part of Human Resource Management. Due to the amalgation of Personnel function in its refined way with HRM, it became necessary for every organization to develop skills, talents, potentialities, capabilities and attitude of company work to meet the emerging challenges. Hence HRD policies have been adopted. HRD strategies are supposed to bring forth necessary changes in skills capabilities and attitudes of people who are required to cope with the emerging changes. Thus HRD has become an integral part of Human Resource Management.Personnel Management Human Resource Management Personnel Management | Human Resource Management| | | Labor is treated as a tool which is replaceable| Treats people as a resource or as an asset to be issued for the benefit of an organization | Interests o f organization are upper most | A distinct philosophy aiming at mutuality of interests| A not so important function meant only to hire employees and maintain their records | Integrated into overall straight management | Precedes human resources management | Latest in the evolution of subject|

The Perfect American Lifestyleof The 1950S. What Is The

The Perfect American lifestyle of The 1950s What is the perfect American lifestyle, was there ever a perfect American lifestyle. This paper will analyze Stephanie Coontz’s â€Å"What We Really Miss About The 1950s† and the idea of the ideal America Lifestyle. The perfect American lifestyle of the 1950s started with the ability to earn money as Coontz notes â€Å"it’s easy to see why people might look back fondly to a decade when real wages grew more in any single year than in the entire ten years of the 1980s combined† (Coontz). Growing wages allowed for more spending and more spending created for a better economy. However, Coontz says that the feeling for the 1950s was more than just money. As according to Coontz â€Å"it’s more than just a†¦show more content†¦Coontz once again shows skepticism as she says â€Å"Even people who do pick the 1950s as the best decade generally end up saying, once they start discussing their feelings in depth, that it’s not the family arrangements in and of themselves that they want to revive† (Coontz). Coontz finally shows the reason for her skepticism of the 1950s family. As Coontz says that â€Å"They don’t miss the way women used to be treated, they s ure wouldn’t want to live with most of the fathers they knew in their neighborhoods† (Coontz). Coontz starts to paint an ugly picture of the 1950s American family. And Coontz backs up her statement about women with an article from Judith Wallerstein â€Å"The Good Marriage: How and Why Love Lasts† says that â€Å"100 spouses in â€Å"happy† marriages, she found that only five â€Å"wanted a marriage like their parents’.† The husbands â€Å"consciously rejected the role models provided by their fathers. The women said they could never be happy living as their mothers did† (Wallerstein) Coontz goes on to say that really â€Å"What most people really feel nostalgic about has little to do with the internal structure of 1950s families† (Coontz). So maybe it was not all it was cracked up to be maybe it was more a â€Å"belief that the 1950s provided a more family-friendly economic and social environment, an easier climate in which t o keep kids on the straight
